ABOUT

Diane.jpg

Having trained and practiced as an architect and urban designer, I now work part time at the University of Auckland, New Zealand after a career in teaching, research, and academic leadership.

I started designing and making art and jewellery a decade ago to reconnect with the passion for design which informed my early career in designing for much larger contexts. Recent exhibitions include individual and group shows at Artfull, Seed Gallery, Northart, The Upstairs Gallery Estuary Art Centre and the Waiheke Community Art Gallery in Auckland New Zealand.

My contemporary pieces of art and art to wear use ordinary and inexpensive materials. My wish is to enable art work to be accessible to all, no matter what their budget.

I believe the value of a piece lies not in its materiality, but in its innovative design. I am particularly interested in plastic as a material and the expressiveness of colour.
